Coming home from vacation is hard. It sucks, actually.
Why does it seem like we come home to chaos even though I (mostly) cleaned the house before we left?
Why is it so hard to unpack?
Why do you spend the whole first day back trying to organize and refind a semblance of control?
My house always looks a little funny to me when I come back from a long trip. It's like I see it with new eyes. Why did I hang that picture there? What was I thinking when I chose those drapes? I still hate those chairs.
Did you know the average noxious weed will grow to your waist in ten days?
And then there's the catching up with local and world events. There might be big news I totally missed while I was gone and for some stupid reason that stresses me out. Like the dream I had last night that Glenn Beck was missing (some might call it a nightmare, others- too good to be true, I'll leave that up to you). I almost googled it this morning thinking it was a real news story I missed while on vacation.
At the lake I spend time idealizing how to make daily life better. Especially now that school is getting ready to start. I make plans. I visualize all the projects I finally finish. I can see it happening. I get motivated.
I cross the threshold and it all goes whooshing out the front door. I remember why I was stuck in the first place.
Vacation posts coming as soon as Kitty and I get over the depression of reality.

Welcome home friend...it won't be long and everything will be back to 'normal'!
I am with you on that one. vacations suck. I'd rather stay home in reality so I never crack the slightest smile, knowing it will soon all end anyways.
That's an awesome pic.
I love vacations! It's when they end and you have to got back is what bites. I totally agree with you on that one. What I love / hate about vacations is freedom. It is great to have time to do what you and your family want to. Then time and money run out it's game over.
I do want to hear how fun the lake was though :)
*disregard my bad grammar this time please*
I also hate coming home from vacations. What is it about it that makes me continue to live out of my suitcase? Wouldn't it just be easier to empty it as soon as I get home? My house also never gets clean until I do this, so it doesn't get clean...
