Marionettes are creepy.
Photo from Denver Puppet Theater
It was weird.
1. The theater is located in a beyond sketchy part of west Denver. But it has a beautiful courtyard with a fountain, tables, chairs, an arbor and an angora rabbit in a hutch.
2. The courtyard was charming and I wanted to recreate it in my backyard (old wine bottles (most were old) used as a border, so cool).
3. There was a house behind the building where I assume the owners live.
4. When you walk into the theater part there are puppets hanging all over the walls. Old puppets, foreign puppets, mostly marionettes but a few regular hand kind. It was a nightmare waiting to happen.
5. The lady came out, greeted us, and after an awkward little song about staying in your seat she disappeared behind the curtain.
6. The lady wrote and performed the piece herself-- down to all the annoying voices. The plot fell apart and ended with no resolution. John got bored, Kitty laughed like crazy.
It was a strange cross between The Sound of Music and Being John Malkovich.
I hope you sleep well tonight, I will be dreaming of Punch and Judy... and Chucky.

Pet Peeve #241
As much as I hate "Vaguebooking" (Meri) I also hate when people post a status on facebook that is obviously an inside joke between friends. I hate it because I am usually the person who doesn't get the joke and comments anyway only to feel stupid later when I realize they obviously meant something else entirely.
For example:
Friend #1 LOVES popcorn!
Me: Me too! Popcorn with butter is the best!
Friend #2: Yeah, it's soooo..... greasy.
Friend #3: And SALTY! I'll never look at popcorn the same again.
Friend #1: That guy was totally HOT!
One of these kids doesn't belong.
Oh yeah, it's me. Just like middle school all over again.
And I am sorry to say, but these people do it on purpose. They gain some kind of pleasure out of unsuspecting people like me taking their status at facevalue. And this is what I have to say about them-- You ARE stuck in Middle School-- the rest of us have moved on.

One more thing to hate.
You know what I hate? My blog header, but I don't know how to get rid of it because I like the rest of the layout.
How stupid is the "be trendy" thing up there? Really? Have I ever been anything near "trendy"? Why would I want to demand it of others?
So, please don't feel the pressure to "be trendy", because really, I don't even know what that is anymore.

A word of advice...
Even if you think it won't hurt to read The Wizard of Oz to a three year old, it will.
I do not like the wind.
And it is all my mother's fault.
